Our racers report that campaigning the Elise/Exige is a very affordable way of going racing. Lotus has designed their cars for track use. The the Toyota-based engine, the brakes, suspension, are flogged and stressed, yet hold up under the pressure quite well, meaning more time racing, and less time repairing broken and worn-out parts. More fun, less financial outlay, is a recipe for a great way to get on the track. The Lotus Challenge Race Series web site has a forum where racers and future racers can discuss the Lotus Challenge.
